worldtimelines.org.uk uses Flash in the 'Timeline Viewer' to help the visitor navigate the maps and timelines. We understand that for a number of reasons, people can not or choose not to download Flash Player onto their computers or use Flash content on websites. For those people, we have designed the site so that they can browse exactly the same content that is displayed with the 'Timeline Viewer' elsewhere without having to use Flash.
There are two ways of using the website:
Launch the Timeline Viewer (requires that you have Flash Player 7 installed) and use this to navigate the maps and timelines. From the Timeline Viewer you can link to articles with more information about topics and objects from the partner museums. These pages are in HTML and have no Flash elements.
Go the Index pages. Choose a place/period that you want to investigate, and follow the the "Non-Flash" link. This will take you to an HTML page that has the same content and links to other pages as in the Timeline Viewer (Flash window) for that period.
Other accessibility features
The pages are designed so that you can alter the text size using your browser controls. In Internet Explorer, Choose View >Text Size>Larger or Largest to increase the size of the text.
You can also change the colour of the background using your Browser.
